4 Wrestling letters. PIL Wrestling Champion in the Unlimited weight class as a Senior.
3 Football letters. Starting tackle in Shrine All-Star Game. 2 Track & Field letters.

John Bakkensen, Class of 1961
High School Honors: 3 Track & Field letters. Won the PIL discus championship and set new PIL meet records in the discus throw as a Junior and Senior; 3rd in State as a Junior and first as a Senior and set a new State Meet record in 1961. Won Oregon AAU meet as a Junior with a throw of 170’8.25”, the farthest in State history among high schoolers at that time and became nationally ranked. Served as Student Body President.

3 Football letters. 1st Team All-PIL as a Junior and Senior in Football with League Championships both years. Defensive MVP in Shrine All-Star Game as a Senior.
3 Baseball letters. 2nd team All-PIL as a Senior in Baseball, also a championship season.
